Thousands of pounds of South Florida beach trash are waiting for you
There is too much trash on South Florida Beaches, and too few of volunteers to help pick it up! Palm Beach and Broward counties are seeking out more participants for the Ocean Conservancy International Coastal Cleanup this Saturday. All of the trash picked up with be entered into the Ocean Trash Index database. However, there are not enough people to pick up all of the trash on the beach.
Our beaches being polluted and trash piling up is an ever growing problem to not only Florida beaches but all beaches globally. Not having enough people to pickup this trash leaves the trash no choice to shit there and ultimately harm fish and pollute our beautiful beaches. This can lead to posing a threat not only to the ecosystem but Florida’s tourism market. Leaving an impact on the states economy.
The problem of not having enough people to pick up trash on our beaches can affect the same people who do not volunteer to pick it up in the long term. As trash builds up it can hurt the state as a whole.
Fatal motorcycle accident shuts down all northbound lanes on parts of Florida’s Turnpike

Accidents like this one occur every single day. When they occur they can cause massive traffic jams throughout city streets, highways, and tolled streets. The accidents cause many others to be late to work or force them to re route.
Accidents like this one and traffic affect pretty much every single person in an urban area.
Hey Michael, your local opportunities come from great stories and sources, and I think the stories on the keys cyber hacking incident and the food hazards are really interesting. I like that all of your articles present clear problems that have a lot of opportunity value, but I do think your responses could have been more elaborate. For example, in your last post about the fatal motorcycle accident, it might have been better to say that motorcycle drivers or licensed drivers in general face this problem, because "many others" can come across as vague.
