20A – Growing Your Social Capital


  1. One person that would suit to help and be a perfect fit to helping with this project would be my father. Having been in real estate as his career he would have much of the know how within the industry, as well as the connections. 
  2. He would fit the domain and market expert category, having been in the business for many years and still in the business he is both an expert on this type of market and owns the same kind of company, being a real estate firm. 
  3. I have found this person him being my father. 
  4. Being my father the nature of the exchange would be fairly simple. 
  5. Including him in my network would give me a lot of the know how, I may currently not have within developing this project. 

  1. Another person that would be suit to help would be my Uncle. My Uncle is an architect in Manhattan and works on building and designing many new modern commercial buildings. 
  2. He would fit into the supplier to my industry. When going about developing the lifestyle centers there would need to be an architect fit to design it. This is an important slot due to the product relying on having a beautifully built layout and design. 
  3. I had found the person with him being my uncle, and gave him a phone call discussing the idea 
  4. Being such a large position to the project the nature of the exchange would be financial. 
  5. Including him in my network will help with creating the overall layout and design for the entire project, having someone with over 30 years of experience in the architectural industry. 

  1. Someone else who would fit into the network would be, Benzion, a family friend of mine who owns and operates many small businesses as well as is a real estate agent for commercial tenants.
  2. He would fill the market expert, being that he knows many potential tenants and operates small business of his own. He would aid with finding tenants and developing what they look for most in the properties they want to be in. 
  3. I have found this person through knowing him already as a family friend for many years, and when spoke wit him regarding this idea many times. 
  4. The nature of exchange would be compensation as with any other commercial real estate agent, once developed putting him as the main leasing agent for potentially a giant project. 
  5. Including this person within my network will help for him to create a better understanding of what our tenants in the project would look for, and developing the project around the needs of them. As well once the project is completed with filling up the spaces.

The only thing I would say you should do to strengthen this post would be to make sure you detail everything a little more. With more details you would be able to look back at these interviews and find valuable information for the future.

    I enjoyed reading your post. I think overall, you interviewed good people related to real estate and construction, people that could provide great input concerning your idea. What I would suggest for the future, would be to interview people outside your family circle. Although their advice is greatly appreciated they could be somewhat biased due to the family connection. Your idea could be benefitted by outside input.
