26A – Celebrating Failure
This semester I had failed with my original course load. When beginning UF Online I had elected to take 4 courses not realizing the work load that it would have been. I also picked fairly difficult courses. With operating two separate businesses I had come to the realization it would be next to impossible handling the school work load on top of my business work. When realizing this rather than quit, I had taken a simple step back to continue staying in school and continue to work. I worked on my time management and prioritization of work and when to do it. I learned to create set schedules and right down each night what you want to do the next day. I tend to always get down on myself when I fail but, rather than let it ruin my attitude, I look at failures as lessons learnt.
Hi Michael,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post. I regret hearing that you had a difficult time with your courses this semester, it is a shame. I completely understand how overwhelming can be to balance school and work. I also work, although I only have one work and it is on campus, so I can imagine the difficulty of handling two jobs plus four classes. However, as you mentioned you can't let this stop you, you just have to learn from your mistakes. As a quick tip, there are some apps that can help you with time management, you should check them out.
Hi Michael, failure is a big part of life. You are definitely not alone when it comes to academic failure. I have found myself overwhelmed and burnt out time and time again at school. What is great about your case is that you were able to find something that works for you. Time management is definitely essential when taking online courses, especially in such a rigorous school such as UF.
