27A – Reading Reflection No. 3

For this reading reflection I chose to read How To Fail At Almost Everything And Still Win Big by Scott Adams. The theme of the book generally was how to accept failure, and how it is not always the worst thing to happen, but can sometimes be the best thing. Failure teaches you lessons and causes you to work harder. the book helped me to come and realize all of my past failures and the lessons i've subtly learnt from each of them. When looking back at all of the failures in my life, in each one, I come out with a lesson learned, and something that pushes me to strive for success everyday. If I would design an exercise for this book, it would be to write a summary about a time you failed and then furthermore include a time that same lesson helped you succeed in another scenario. The biggest surprise in the book was when I had realized that failure brings true success in every aspect of life. Failure is what helps you become the person you are today and would highly recommend reading this book to anyone whether or not they are in business or not.

  1. Hey Michael,
Once again, I enjoyed reading your post. After reading it I could simply tell the book is a one worth reading. I enjoy the theme of the book, I consider that dealing with failure is one of the hardest and most important things in life. I think it is great that you were able to relate to the book and used it to your advantage. However, I think that next time you should try an answer the questions with greater detail, it could serve to your advantage.

  2. Hi Michael, I also read this book and found your point of view to be interesting. I'm glad this book helped you to realize there were lessons worth learning from mistakes you have already read. One of my biggest take away from the books are the way the author, Scott Adams, was his take on goals. His preference for systems over goals was inspiring and I have decided that is the way I would plan out my future. It's nice to know that you also drew from the book, as did I.
